An Update Regarding ACA Legislation
On Thursday January 12, 2017, Senate Republicans managed to pull off a 51 to 48 vote at 1:30 AM to begin the process of repealing the Affordable Care Act. They approved a budget blueprint that allows them to dismantle the law despite a lively protest by the Democrats.
We demonstrated how the Republicans plan to repeal the ACA in our last blog. By using a Budget Reconciliation, the Republicans will be able to repeal the Affordable Care Act without the threat of a filibuster.
The budget blueprint instructs House and Senate committees to develop actual repeal legislation by January 27, creating an actual deadline in the Republican’s quest to supplant the Affordable Care Act. January 27 will show the public what exactly Senate Republicans will strip away from the Affordable Care Act.
